Why You Should Choose High-Quality Cookware

When choosing the right pots and pans its important that you select a few particular pieces – instead of having a bunch tucked away in your cupboard that are different materials, sizes and you don’t know which are best for different types of cooking.
There are instances where non-stick cookware, such as a non-stick frying pan, can be extremely useful. For instance when you are cooking eggs or thin pancakes. They are also known for being easy to clean. The great news is that you don’t always need to spend a ton of money on a non-stick pan to achieve non-stick results.
There are many affordable options available.
Next, let’s see how you can begin your search for high-quality cookware. First, you need to go through the essential features.
How Should You Choose a High-Quality Frying Pan?
It is essential to take the time to research the features that make up frying pans so that you can purchase the perfect one for your kitchen and cooking needs.
We have listed four of these essential features below along with a description of why they are important.
Pan Material
Frying pans come in a variety of materials for you to choose from. Different types of materials preform differently, such as heat reduction, scratch-resistant, dishwasher safe and more. Again, the prices of these materials vary and the best for your cooking will depend on the types of foods and cooktop that you have.
Some materials that frying pans can be made of are:
- Aluminum
- Carbon Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Copper
- Cast iron
- Hard-anodised aluminium
Pan Thickness

The thickness of your pan is important. It determines whether the pan will cook your food evenly while also maintaining regular heating without hotspots.
Hotspots cause foods in one area of a pan to cook faster than other foods. They can also cause some of the foods on the pan to burn. This can be inconvenient while cooking a meal.
Thick pans prevent hotspots from occurring because they have more time for the heat to spread out evenly since it has more distance between the heat source and the cooking surface.
You can tell how thick a pan is by lifting it and looking at its base and walls.
Frying Pan Handle
When you are choosing your frying pan, it’s important that you are aware of the different types of handles available and how they will affect your cooking experience.
Frying pan handles can be Riveted or rivetless. Riveted handles are secure but they can be harder to clean. See the image below – the red arrow shows the riveted handle.
Rivetless pans can be easier to clean, but since they are less secure, a rivetless handle can break suddenly without any warning. This can be dangerous if it occurs while you are cooking. See the below image – the red arrow shows where the pan is rivetless.
You also want a frying pan that has a handle that is heatproof so that it stays cool on the stove while you are cooking. Stainless steel handles are poor conductors of heat and plastic and wooden handles also stay cool.
You will not be able to put wood and plastic in the oven as they are not ovenproof like you can with a stainless steel handle.
The Pans Coating
As with many other types of frying pans features, they come in different types of coating. There are usually two different types of coating, which are:
- Non-stick
- Natural finish
The non-stick finish is a very popular choice for frying pans because of its properties that enable the food to not stick to the pan and also making it easy to clean. The non-stick coating can be made with different materials.
On the opposite end, with natural finish pans you will find that the food tends to stick to the surface more and they can be more difficult to clean. You may need to use more oil and fats while cooking your food on them. Natural finish pans can often be cheaper than non-stick pans.
